In a last-minute decision the school decided we all needed to attend this performance art thing at a bar in Galway on Wednesday as part 2 of our Wed. session. The art was really dumb (even the teachers didn't like it) but socializing is fun so it was ok. Really pretty lighting on the way over:
Today (Thursday) I left with the other two advanced photo students (Steph and Devin) and our teacher (Martina) to Limerick (apparently a shady town) so that Devin could do a shoot of kick boxing for his independent class and Steph and I could start on our new assignment, documentary photos.
First we hit up some charity shops that Steph had looked up, but as we got there about 4:30 and everything closed at 5 that ended quickly.
Then we wandered around a bit and discovered a chocolate bar, so we stopped in for a cheap dessert. With our backpacks. And cameras. And street clothes. And messy hair. For context, here's what the restaurant looked like:
We got a lot of looks from the waiters. Absolutely delicious though. I had (L to R) tiramisu, fudge, and bailey's cheesecake:
Then we wandered around a bit more while waiting for the meet-back-up time all the while realizing that there is absolutely nothing to do in Limerick and why would you ever want to come here.
Finally at 7:15 Martina shows up at the clock tower:
with her friend and we walk to a new gallery space thing for about 20 minutes before heading out, where Martina first can't find her car (or anything else, for that matter. Very directionally challenged), backs into the person parked behind her, takes the wrong exit off the roundabout and gets us stuck on a road with no exit until past the toll, and runs over a rat. It sounds horrible but in all actuality it was very amusing. We quickly learned to not engage her in conversation while she's driving or she makes a lot of mistakes.
She gave us tea at her house. And look! Puppies!
She breeds them off her two other dogs. This is the daddy:
No, you're not looking at that wrong-- that IS a huskey who's the same height as a 5'9" girl sitting down.
Then when we finally got home, it was Nacho Night!! everyone stayed up for us and baked us some fresh nachos but then they all went to bed pretty quickly because tomorrow is Irish studies and we're going for a hike! wahh..
