Emily and I walked to the town from the school today to buy stamps. Halfway down the school road we found a young cow. In the middle of the road.
"Um." we said.
Emerson, Maggie and Kim were standing around looking confused as well. We all sort of stood there for a moment.
I walked towards the cow, intending to go around it and continue on. He ran away further down the road toward the main road with the dangerous traffic.
"That's a really skittish cow." I said.
This game of unintenionally herding the cow further down the road continued until we found a gate (which didn't open), whereupon Emily and I squished up as far away from the road as we could in hopes that the cow would deem it safe enough to run past us on the opposite side. After about 5 minutes of crouching there, he continued to just stand there and stare at us.
"This is a very weird time in my life," said Emily.
A car came up the road from the opposite direction, startling the cow into running in front of the vehicle (brakes slam) and was successfully herded back up the road, leaving Emily and me to continue on our merry way.
"Who the hell owns these fields anyway?" we wonder.
I am test posting a comment because after the 1st one, it won't let me post more
